Workshop 1 Evaluation

David Workshop 1 Evaluation

For workshop 1 I used a scene from The Fate Of The Furious as I know the fast and furious films a lot and love that specific scene. I also had some type of idea in what the characters would be thinking and if you pay attention there is a lot of parts where the characters will go quite which I think is the best opportunity to talk and say lines that may go through their minds. In order for me to get the clip that I needed, I had to find it on youtube and from there it was downloaded from a website called Y2mate . The processor I used was garage band as all the editing I done was on there. the clip had o be at 1 minute and through out the clip I had to record myself and other friends talking as if we was the actors and say what will be going through their mind.

I used around 4 other students to help me because one person doing all the talking for many characters would sound boring. In order for the characters to know what they are saying, I made a small script that I wrote on my notes in my phone and recorder their voices via the voice memos app. from there, I attempted to transfer the voice files onto the computer to edit however it was unsuccessful so what I had to do instead was email them individually to the computer then download them and fit them into the scene. In the beginning the scene was worth 3 minutes long so I had to cut out 2 minutes of the clip and made everything work.

My intentions with the voice over to say lines that the characters would be thinking at that point as I mentioned before. So in the beginning when cipher was sitting I knew she would be thinking something about the quotes and got one female friend to say what I thought she would say. Then I used this for each character and with the help of my friends I was able to edit each of their voices into blank parts of the scene where it would look like the character will be talking to themselves. I had to perfectly time all the characters voices with the amount of seconds the scene was stuck in that position and an example of this could be with my edited version at 0:31 to 0:33 you can see that the camera was stuck on Hobbs and I thought that was the perfect opportunity as a lot of things would be going through his mind as his team member just got shot. "he really just shot him", I used that as you can see from Hobbs face expression and body language he was shocked.

in order for me to fit the voice overs and make it look like one, I had to edit the actual volume of the scene and dim it down which gave me the opportunity to raise the volume of the voices that I had created for that part. Some of the scenes were way too quick which didn't allow me to use the specific line that I wanted to use, I had to either re write it and record it or I edited the voice over and made it shorter so it fit perfectly with the clip. an example of this would be when Shawn and Dom are climbing out the car and Shawn (voice over) says "snap, he's climbing out the car". the original part I wanted to say was " I can't believe he's making it out the car after that crash" but the scene was too short for a long sentence. What I did was, I tied to edit the voice over and make it short however it still didn't fit so I just re done the whole voice over and came up with that better line.

The audio techniques that I used were microphone as I didn't have anything else to record the audio with. I recorded in a really quite area so that there wasn't any background noice that effected the audio. the audio version I made was very professional because it nearly fades in with what the characters are actually saying and it sounds as if the voice overs are inside the actual film. I believe my work was successful as it looks very professional and the words said in the voice overs are words that the actual characters would use if they had done it. Everything is Lind up perfectly and I re checked my work so that it could be uptown the best of standard and meets the targets.

My voiceover had meanings as the way the lines were said had an emotional effect for the characters so that the audience is able to tell. Because when Cipher wanted the codes in the begging, you can tell from the voice not that she is nervous and eager to catch them codes. Another example could also be when Dom shot Shawn and when the voice over came to Hobbs, it shows the impression that the words give and changes the mood of that scene for the audience. Hobbs was shocked and angry and in the voiceover and I was able to show that with the words I used and the way I said it.
